Almost Ready!!
Well, the big heavy suitcases are packed! We have gotten all our medications, seen the doctor and the dentist and taken care of our mail. Now for just a few loose ends around the house and getting our flu shots. I think Dan has finally bought into this trip and is actually excited about going. We know that about 20 people from the Phoenix area will be traveling with us. We have met three times and each time new people are there. They have been a great source of information for us as most are world travelers and want to share. We fly out Saturday for San Diego and that night there is a small get together of cruise Critic members for dinner. I’m going to include a map of our journey. Our trip has been changed once already as China won’t allow us to come from South Korea into China due to the current political environment. So we lost those ports and they added two more ports in Japan. Our ship is the Ms Amsterdam of the Holland America line. It is a smaller ship of about 1250 people. Currently the ship is in wet dock in Seattle getting new fresh water lines, new carpet and some stateroom remodeling. They will sail toward San Diego on Thursday September 28th and even as they sail the work will continue. There are no passengers on now. I’m also going to include the link to our captains blog site. You have to go to the link, sign up for his blog and then confirm through email that you want to subscribe. The captain is quite an interesting blogger and will provide you with much more interesting information regarding the ship, facts about the ports and weather. Please leave comments for us. We will post when we have internet. Our first 6 days are at sea getting to Dutch Harbor at the end of the Aluetian chain. Once we get to San Diego we will have more excitement to share!!
