Yes it’s that time of year in Arizona where you put on all the sun screens, pull the blinds, set the drip system to run longer everyday, turn off the garage refrigerator where it can get to be 120 degrees and do us turn off the AC units, the gas, the hot water and unplug the TV! Lots of folks just have to escape. As we get older we start earlier getting ready. We were lucky this year to pull our fifth wheel to sone property Aaron and Tessie bought. His dad is living there in his RV and they built a beautiful shade structure for him and several other RVs. We took ours out and plugged in so we could check everything before we hit the road. Where we live we can’t park more than two days and we are so long, 60 ft, that we block our own driveway. So Dan did lots of little things and we slowly started taking out clothes, canned food, medicine and toiletries. Two days before we left he pulled it home so we could finish loading.
Truck and RV ready!
Cones are off the street and she looks pretty shiny too after Tess bought Dan a RV and Truck Wash for Fathers Day. Thank you Tessie!!!
Now we get to clouds and scenery.
Almost like Sedona.
Beautiful rocks and mountains everywhere along route interstate 17 then 89 north.
Our first night at J & J
View from the campground! This is Kanab. It’s a very cute town with a lot to see and do. You can go to Zion, Bryce, Glen Canyon Dam and the Grand Canyon. The park has full hook ups, a laundry, is a Good Sams Park, and had good wifi. There is a large supermarket there, a rental car agency, an airport, lots of nice unique restaurants and hotels a Greek Bakery, an RV Parts store and Big Al,s Burgers!!
Besides the camper he does all the trimming of our bushes and makes sure all the drip systems are working. Then he helped Tessie catching 15 snakes and making her yard more rodent proof. Yes there were a few roof rats he caught too! He got to fly a time or two and also helped put up shade screens at their property so he and Tess worked hard at that in some high heat temperature days.
Our plan this year is to head to the NW and spend some time at Todds seeing Zoey. Then spend lots of time on the west coast of Washington and around the Olympic Peninsula.
So mostly you will see some photos of our first day. It was great weather, little traffic and no hiccups. We stayed at J & J RV Park. It’s fairly new and had nice owners. One night here and we didn’t even in hook. It was kind of a long day but we made it singing our way through lots of scenic areas to some oldies in my playlist!!
Back yard furniture put away. You can see our Palo Verde that blew over last fall in the corner is making a valiant comeback!!
The hot tub is covered and that Palo Verde too is making a come back. It’s not the big tree outside our view fence but rather a smaller one in front of that. The Lantanas are going gang busters!
My English Garden walkway on the side with its purple bougainvillea that holds a Dove nest and babies. There is another bougainvillea way in the back, a purple snail vine winding through it all and sone beautiful yellow flowers and light peach bougainvillea.
Dan has trimmed the front and it looks great.
She’s ready to rest while we leave.
